Mustang Themed Baby Shower

Looking for a simple, yet tastefully themed baby shower for a boy? We've got it all covered here.

This is not your typical request for a baby shower so I spent a lot of time creating decoration ideas to fit this theme. It all started back when I was at my niece's gender reveal party and she asked me if I wanted to decorate for her baby shower. Sure! I love decorating for these type of events. Sign me up!!

Little did I know what I signed up for.

Just when you think you've got it all planned out, try putting a baby shower together for a theme you would've never imagined.

As the date to the shower was approaching and I was brainstorming I realized I had forgotten to ask momma what her theme to the babies room would be. When she said " Mustang Themed,"

I thought wow!....okay.... This is different but I like different! How hard could this be?

After all, the father of the baby owns a Mustang and is crazy about them. So, it was only natural for his wife to want a Mustang themed baby shower for her baby boy. After agreeing to decorate for what I thought would be an easy themed baby shower, I came to a realization that this event was going to be up for a challenge.

After browsing Pinterest on what felt like a million themes and ideas, there just wasn't anything really relatable to a Mustang themed baby shower. Sure, there were plenty of cute ideas, but they all resembled birthday parties and the colors were not geared to a first-time momma baby shower. Lots of blacks and reds. Not the vibe I was going for. The goal was to make momma feel special right? Especially since this was her first baby. How could I incorporate boy colors and still keep the Mustang theme that she really wanted? With a limited budget I had to make this look somewhat elegant, yet affordable.

First things first, I had to see the area that I would be decorating. After seeing the venue, I realized that it was going to be a little challenging because the room was huge and there was a lot of space to fill. I needed some fillers and you know what makes a great filler? A balloon arch! They also look AMAZING and turn any dull room into a vibrant fun space. The balloon arch would go in the front of the room and mommas chair would be placed within it. The gift table is to the right along with some white lights and a picture display that me maw made to give it a special touch! I used a backdrop with grey curtains and attached the balloon arch to the back drop.

Since the Mustang logo is red, white and blue, and I didn't want this to feel like a 4th of July celebration, I decided to go with several shades of blue and white. Once the colors were decided, I started working on a plan for centerpieces. Since we were on a budget, I figured why not make cute diaper cakes for the centerpieces. Honestly, I tried to take items that she would need for the baby and turn them into decorations. As you can see above, I took baby clothes, mittens and hats and added them to the table using a hot glue gun, twine and small clothespins. Below is a picture of one of the diaper cakes that I made for each table. They were super affordable and simple to make.

For the dessert table we just placed a piece of blue fabric on the table and layered it to give it some height. Then we used cute dishes and filled them with candy and decorated the table with blue desserts.

This was the dessert table before all the extra goodies arrived. It included Rice Krispie's and pretzels covered with icing and sprinkles, cupcakes, cotton candy, Hershey kisses, blue sour straws, blue candy rings, and blue cake ball pops. More surprises arrived as the guests were entering.

The food table was simple! Food, drinks and little decorations here and there. I made a different diaper cake for this table and added a framed scripture to one side of the table. The Mustang logo on this cake is actually a magnet I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

The tables were decorated with plastic table covers, a centerpiece and paper plates, cups and napkins. I have no idea how a white cup ended up on one of the plates? Any who, we placed the plastic forks and spoons into a napkin, wrapped them and placed a set inside each cup.

When walking through the front doors we set up a table to the right with souvenirs for the guests to take home, along with a centerpiece and a little coin jar reading: Damien's Mustang Fund.

If you're looking for another cute touch to add to the shower, don't forget a book nook! Another family member decided to add this cute table full of books. She's a teacher so we should've known she would have set up such an adorable display. When the invitations were sent, there was a request to bring a book for the baby to the shower. This was also a great filler for the other side of the room.

And those cute little jars you see on the table.............................

BOOK WORM GUMMIES!!!

Here are some more pictures and little touches we added to make this even more special for momma and the grandparents to be. We made a similar card for the momma to be!

When everything was settled, I looked back and realized it turned out quite alright considering the limited budget and the rare theme. The momma to be loved it and so did everyone else. I hope you enjoyed this post and can gain some inspiration from it to help you on your next event. Thanks and have a blessed day!!
